Reactivated NWOBHM Band SCARAB Working On Full-Length Album

Reactivated 'early '80s Birmingham, UK-based underground NWOBHM band SCARAB, whose 1984 "Poltergeist" single is reportedly "one of the most sought-after NWOBHM singles ever released," will enter Symbol Of Life studios in South Wales in August 1 to begin recording its first-ever full-length album, "A Requiem Of War". A gatefold 10-inch limited-edition vinyl EP featuring a re-recorded track from each SCARAB lineup will act as a taster for the double album out around Christmas on The Miskatonic Foundation label.

Dave Parrish (Guitar) (founding member)
Garry Wain (Bass)
Chris Mchale (Drums)
Paul Britton (Vocals, Guitar) (founding member)

The band hopes the double CD — featuring re-recorded SCARAB classics, demos, live tracks, singles and interviews — will end the SCARAB story up to 2009. The group will then start work on the second album, with all-new material, early next year. European festivals appearances in 2009 as well as the band's first show in 23 years this Christmas are already booked.

Commented Britton: "It's been a blast, really, working with Dave again. There was always a 'thing' going on when we played together. Your first band is like the first time you have sex. You never forget that rush, do you?! f anyone thinks this is just some ego bullshit — four 40-plus old farts trying to impress the grandkids — THINK AGAIN. This is a serious fucking stab at putting together the heaviest album to come out of a bunch of Brummies since SABBATH. This album will draw a line under the '80s SCARAB, and there is a huge amount of metalheads round the world that are into this band. It's been a shock, really, if I'm honest. The second album will be all-new material and a taster for that ('A Soul For A Soul') will on the EP, out around October, we hope, but it's a great way to get us all back up to speed, recording stuff we played in every pub in the UK in the two years we were together, so for the moment we'll just be concentrating on the first record. The vibe's good, and we're all fired up."
